Why Ham Radio?

How exciting can ham radio be? There are few recreational activities that can provide the breadth of challenge and interest and engagement as ham radio.  How many hobbies are there that give you the chance to chat with the space station astronauts on a first name basis?  How many hobbies are there that expand the boundaries of international cooperation?

You want excitement?

Forget extreme sports.   How many hobbies are there that give you the chance to climb a  60m (200ft) tower and install an antenna that is  15m wide and 18m long? Check these hams out - click on the thumbnail image to show a larger picture.
