The VK Antenna Gain HandbookBy Phillip Grimshaw ISBN 978-0-9757689-4-5 (CD format: ISBN 978-0-9757689-5-2) This is the 5th book of ham author VK4KVK. This book was written as a refreshing new look at some new ideas on gain antenna's and phasing. It avoids a lot of references to Yagi and Quad beam antennas - it leaves that to other books. What this book does do is address what the author has long regarded as a forgotten area of base station antenna design and creation. There in lies the inspiration for this book. There is a focus on VHF and UHF base station antennas, but options for HF are not overlooked. The material presented in the book has been written to be easy to understand with a view to aiding the reader in building their own antennas. Many different types of antenna are discussed with significant options for high gain. It explores many different omni-directional gain antennas right across the frequency spectrum from 7MHz to 438MHz. The book still retains that fundamental trait of all of VK4KVK's books - antennas for restricted spaces, where size does matter! If there is a ham book you treat yourself to this year, then this should be it. In due course you will be able to download the antenna model files for this book.
